About Me
Growing up and background
Sujatha’s dance journey began at the early age of 5 in Chennai, when
dancing to rhythm was discovered as a natural element. She learned
from several teachers and later from Padmashri Guru Adyar K
Lakshman. Her growing-up years exposed her to watching the
great stalwarts’ performances in the sabhas of Chennai which left a
lasting impression for a lifetime and is etched in her memory.
Later life and Dance Journey
After several years of learning in Chennai and qualifying in Cost
Accounting (ICWAI) she took up a corporate working career. She held
senior leadership roles in multinational banks and was the last Senior vice president later she also took up a small stint in a technology-based start-up headquartered in Singapore.
“ Dance found her “ as she says in her later years and she started
learning from Guru Lata Raman in Mumbai. There was no stopping
since then; she has been performing with over 50 solo performances
to her credit.
She is pursuing advanced Karana Vivarna from Dr. Sujatha Mohan and
learns to play the Violin from Smt Lalitha Ramachandran.
Sujatha is presently under senior mentorship from Kalaimamani Guru
Ramya Ramnarayan ( New Jersey)
She has trained in Kalaripayattu, Chau, and dancer flow techniques.

- Bharatanatyam and Music
- Completed Masters in Bharatanatyam (Alankar Poorna from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya)
- BFA , Carnatic Music from Annamalai University
- Diploma in Bharatanatyam(Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth)
- Graded Professional artiste by the DoorDarshan Kendra.
- Natyashastra course conducted by Dr Sujatha Mohan
- Presently pursuing Natyashastra techniques – Marga Nritta Karanas from Smt Vithya Arasu

- Antarmayi – A collaborated production based on Devi Mahatmyam which was featured in story tellers café for Navaratri .
